The year 2020 was marked by the catastrophes caused by coronavirus infection in the world. But this year is also important for Iran and Azerbaijan. Thus, in the first month of 2020 – January 3, an event took place in Iran that will create feelings or emotions.
Qasim Suleimani, whom Iran considers the first person on the battlefield, was killed in Iraq. This incident is considered a tragedy for the Iranian government. In other words, with the death of Suleimani, Iran began extensive propaganda. As it is known, dozens of people died at the funeral of Suleiman in Kerman. The entire Iranian government, including Ali Khamenei, has sent a message of revenge to the world. Tensions between Iran and the United States have risen sharply over the incident. Some time later, a Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 was hit by a missile in Iran. Two planes were shot down near Tehran, killing 176 people, including nine flight crew members.
Despite the fact that Iran was hit by SEPAH forces, Iran tried to hide the details of the tragedy and denied the accusations against it. The Iranian authorities tried to deny the issue by any means. This situation lasts only 2 days. When the incident is widely reported in the foreign media, Iran is forced to admit what happened. Tehran said the plane was shot down by mistake. Although almost a year has passed since this incident, no case of SEPAH has been tried. It should be noted that the incident has caused widespread protests in Tehran. The voice of people gathered to protest the police suppressed with violence. What happened clearly shows the situation in Iran, where there is freedom of speech and opinion, as well as the level of value given to human rights.
One of the biggest scourges for Iran in 2020 is the coronavirus. The dangerous virus found in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 is beginning to spread rapidly in Iran. However, the indifference of government circles to the issue makes the population a victim of the disease. Yes, Iran believes that it has chosen the best way to deny the existence of the virus. At a time when many countries are closing their borders with foreign countries, Mahan Airlines, which is affiliated with Iran, especially SEPAH, plays a key role in the region for flights to China. Finally, under the influence of social media, Iranian officials are revealing the situation of the population with coronavirus infection.
The first coronavirus infection in Iran was registered in the city of Gum. Despite repeated calls by experts for tougher restrictions in Gum, no matter how serious the situation was, it did not matter. Thus, the virus that appeared in the city of Gum spread throughout Iran. Popular protests, limited health opportunities, and others led to atrocities in the country. Despite the widespread economic crisis in Iran, the situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan was completely different. From September 27, regular attacks by Armenia on the settlements of the irregular population of Azerbaijan led to the outbreak of the Patriotic War. This event was written in golden letters in the glorious pages of Azerbaijan’s history. After 30 years of longing for Karabakh, Azerbaijan’s fearless and brave army liberated a large part of the occupied territories. Yes, Azerbaijan has won a victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. Azerbaijan has once again demonstrated its rightful position by reviving historical justice. Iran’s attitude towards the Republic of Azerbaijan began to flow in different directions. Regular trucks arriving at the Russian port of Anzali on the Caspian Sea fled Iranian territory and headed for Armenia through the Norduz border gate. This issue has caused justified protests on social media. Our compatriots living in South Azerbaijan, as always, have shown their support for the true voice of Azerbaijan in this sensitive period. Iran did not say that it provided regular and financial assistance to Armenia. Undoubtedly, this situation stems from Iran’s attitude towards the Republic of Azerbaijan. By helping Armenia, the Tehran government tried to ignore the historic victory of the Azerbaijani people. Protests are being held in a number of cities in South Azerbaijan. From Tabriz, Urmu, as well as from Zangan to Tehran, the voice of the Azerbaijani people rises to the sky.
Following these protests, Tehran was forced to change its stance on the Karabakh issue. In addition, another point that irritates the Iranian government is the Turkish Republic. The Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and invincible unity gave Azerbaijan moral strength. Although Iran has made every effort, it has to stand in a defeated position like Armenia in the Second Karabakh War. The speech of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which was held with great enthusiasm in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, brought to the fore the real face of the Iranian government.
As it is known, during his speech at the Zafar Pass, Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave examples from the poems of People’s Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade and Ahmad Javad. This case is causing political tension in the Iranian parliament. Although the poem sung by the Turkish leader expresses the longing of the Azerbaijani nation, it is written as an indicator of the hostile position in Iran. After this incident, Iran, including Persian-language media, began to use extremely harsh words against Turkey and Erdogan. Persian nationalists have been protesting for days. The controversial issue with Turkey was on the world agenda. South Azerbaijan stood up to support the brotherly country. Iran has admitted its hostility to the Turkish nation.
Thus, 2020 will be remembered as the year of victory of Azerbaijan. This year of our farewell is a year of historical justice in Azerbaijan, an indicator of the courage, patriotism and brotherhood of the Turks.
