Dr. Reza Yegani

East Azerbaijan Professor of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Sahand University of Technology and a member of the Environmental Research Institute of the University of Tabriz, explained the reasons for the critical water situation in Tabriz in the current situation.

In an interview with ISNA, Dr. Reza Yegani said:

“Tabriz, with a population of about two million people and a per capita rainfall of 310 mm, which is higher than the average per capita rainfall in the country, is not having a good day these days and consumes more than 400,000 cubic meters per day.” Water and daily production of 310 to 350 thousand cubic meters of municipal wastewater does not have a proper balance in water resources and consumption.

Referring to the more than 50 percent share of the 182-kilometer Miandoab pipeline in supplying water to Tabriz, he said: “The people of Tabriz in recent days, in addition to suffering from coronary heart disease and enduring heat, also cut off eight hours of water and four hours of electricity.” They experience that, of course, the situation is much worse in the less affluent areas of the city.
