In the city of Dashmaki, Azerbaijani activists painted the face of the statue of Firdovsi black. The statue, known among cultural activists as a symbol of racism and anti-women, also has a cross on it.
Activists protested against racism in this way. Yaver Soltani, the head of the Maku Times Instagram page, and Farid Mohammadnejad, the head of the Yurd TV Instagram page, are currently being held in the Dashmaki prison.
Yaver Soltani was arrested on December 17 by officers of the Court’s Executive Department. Farid Mohammadnejad was arrested by Dashmaki City Court on December 14 while addressing the Executive Department of the court.
