Three Azerbaijani activists have been released from Tabriz prison

200 million tomans

Rasul Razavi, Hussein Muhammadiyan and Hussein Amir Hajri were released on bail from Tabriz prison on Saturday on bail of 200 million tomans until the end of the trial.

On May 26, Azerbaijani activists were detained by security forces and taken to the detention center of the Information Department of Tabriz. After days of questioning, the activists were taken to the Tabriz prison on June 6, before which they were not even allowed to make telephone calls to their families.

Judge Seyyid Ali Mousavi of the 16th Division of the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz has for days prevented the release of national activists on bail on the grounds that the court file was missing.

It should be noted that these activists were arrested hours before the protests in support of Karabakh in Tabriz. On such sensitive days, Iran’s security forces are trying to prevent protests by putting pressure on many Azerbaijani activists.

Dozens of citizens were arrested during the protests, and many are missing. It is unknown exactly what charges the detainees are facing. Said Sultani and Babek Kiyumarsi, who were arrested in Julfa in connection with the protests, are still in custody, raising concerns.
