Azerbaijani Turk, cultural and political prisoner Alireza Farshi, who was sentenced to two years in prison in Tehran, wrote a letter to the speaker of the Iranian parliament.
In his letter, he considers his and other Azerbaijanis’ political activities and the activities of prisoners to be in accordance with the laws of the civil and Islamic Republic of Iran.
In the text of the letter, Alirza Farshi called the arrest and the verdicts against her illegal, and at the request of the security officials, the court of first instance and the court of appeal compiled the main unfounded and fabricated documents.
This Turkish cultural activist was sentenced to two years in prison in 2013 on charges of “membership in the World Mother Language Day.”
Farshi holds a master’s degree in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology and his father was killed in the Iran-Iraq war. This Turkish activity has been interrupted several times for cultural activities, including the organization of support campaigns for teaching in Azerbaijani Turkish in the poor villages of South Azerbaijan and in the mother tongue, and has so far been sent on leave in Iranian prisons despite the spread of the corona.
