Birth rates in Maragha decreased by 17%

In Maragha, the number of births decreased by 17% and the number of marriages by 7.8% last year.
Aliriza Shams Danesh, head of the registry office, told IRNA on Wednesday that 3,600 births had been registered in the city in the past year, down about 17 percent from 1,397, compared to 4,266 last year.
He continued: Last year, the highest birth rate was 321 in Ordibehesht, 319 in Tire and Aban, and 316 and 315 in Khurdad and Shahrivar.
Shams Danesh, head of the registry office, added: “In addition, 1,529 deaths were registered in the city during this period. This was 1,475 in the previous year, an increase of 3.4%.”
Referring to the decline in marriages and divorces in the city in 1398, Shams Danesh said: During this period, 2,773 marriages were registered, which is 8% less than in the same period last year, compared to 7,234 last year.
He said: The highest number of marriages in this city was registered in the month of Azer with 257 and in Murdad and Dey with 220. In addition, 827 divorces were registered in the city in the last year, which is an increase of about 18% compared to the same period in 1397. This number was 794 in 1397.
