Former diplomats demand trial of Iranian officials

Former European ministers have issued a joint statement calling Iran “the godfather of international terrorism.” They pointed to the case of Asadullah Assad, a former Iranian diplomat in Otrish, and demanded that the country’s authorities be tried.

More than 20 former diplomats have addressed Council of Europe President Charles Michel, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borell, European Parliament President David Sassoli, as well as EU and non-EU leaders.

They demanded that the Iranian Ministry of Information and the Sepah be declared completely “terrorist organizations.” The appeal also stressed the importance of persecuting and prosecuting Iranian officials.
