Many activists of the national movement came to Binaba from Tabriz-Urmu-Malikan-Sayingala-Binab to attend the funeral of Bahman Khaliqi. However, they were not allowed to attend the ceremony.
According to him, Khaliqi’s family announced that the funeral will be held at 2:30. However, a car was stopped by intelligence officers in Amir Kabir Square of Binab and the brother of the deceased, Aydin Khalig, was taken away. The body was kept here for 40 minutes.
After that, they asked Khaliqi’s family to say that no one would attend the ceremony. Many national activists, who did not listen to the wishes of the officials, went to Babalar cemetery to say goodbye to their colleague. However, this time a large number of plainclothes intelligence officers closed the cemetery door and did not allow anyone. While national activists from many different cities remained at the door for hours, the national activist’s farewell ceremony was allowed only to his family.
It should be noted that a well-known activist of the National Movement, Bahman Khaligi Mordad, died suspiciously in Binab on the afternoon of the 19th. He was one of the most loyal activists for our national rights. The activist was repeatedly detained and tortured by the Intelligence Service and Sipah security forces. Regime officials forcibly closed the library of the late Bahman Khaliqi. They also targeted their income-generating activities to keep national activists at bay. It should be noted that those who saw the scene of the accident said that the incident was suspicious.
