According to human rights activists, four Arab political prisoners, Hossein Silavi, Ali Khosraji, Ali Motiri, and Ali Mujaddam, who had previously received death sentences, have been transferred from Ahwaz Sheiban Prison to an unknown location, raising concerns about the possibility of their execution.

On Sunday, September 21, the website of the Ahwaz Human Rights Center announced the transfer of these Arab political prisoners on the anniversary of the attack on a military parade in the city of Ahwaz.

Ali Motiri is a boxer from Sheiban in the north of Ahvaz. Ali Khosraji, 26, and Hossein Silavi, 30, along with another man named Nasser Khafajian, were arrested more than two years ago and sentenced to death on charges of “collaborating and participating in an armed attack on Mojahedin police station in Ahvaz in May 2017.” According to the Ahwaz Human Rights Center, the three detainees were severely tortured and the fate of Nasser Khafajian is still unknown.

Branch 12 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Jalilian, was in charge of examining the case of the three defendants, and all of them were sentenced to death. Although a request was made for a retrial for these defendants, the Supreme Court rejected their request and upheld their sentences.

Ali Mojaddam, 39, a resident of Ahvaz’s Kot Seyed Saleh, was arrested by the intelligence service along with other Arab citizens, including two women. He has been convicted by the Revolutionary Court of “conducting armed operations against Iranian security forces,” “acting against national security,” and “communicating with the international community and forming an opposition group against Iran,” but the case and verdicts have been handed down. No information is available for Ali Mujaddam.
