No budget has been allocated for the protection of Garadagh forests

MP Allahverdi Dehgn

MP Allahverdi Dehgn told reporters in the parliament that the Garadagh forests will be destroyed in the next 50-100 years.

He continued:

“According to the law, 15 percent of mining revenues should be allocated to cities or regions where mines are located. The authorities should follow up on this issue. In recent years, very little budget has been allocated for this issue. ”

He also spoke about the Department of Environment’s removal of the Sungun mine from the Pollution List.

“As a result of the activity of the mine, the dust that lands on the trees closes their respiratory cells. In this process, the region’s forests will be destroyed in 50-100 years.”

The bayonet mine produces at least 300 tons of concentrate and 80,000 tons of pure copper. Each ton costs $ 6,500. If we allocate $ 500 for its production process, we will see that it has a net income of 12 to 14,000 billion tomans.

If the District Council of Mines allocates 1 percent of the revenues of the mines for the damage caused to the environment, this figure can cover its losses.

While tens of kilometers of Garadagh forests have been destroyed, the Natural Resources Department has done nothing to restore the forests.
