PROTEST MOTTO WRITTEN ON THE WALLS IN ARDABIL

Azerbaijani political prisoners

Slogans were written on the walls of the city of Ardabil in protest of the Iranian government’s indifference to the situation of Azerbaijani political prisoners.

Cultural activists began the protest after reports that the coronavirus situation in the city’s central prison had been declared “red” and that political prisoners would not be treated.

On December 1, Yusif Kari, an Azerbaijani political prisoner detained in the 7th cell of the Ardabil prison, said in a telephone conversation with his family that he and political prisoner Abbas Lisani had coronavirus symptoms. On December 5, he said Abbas Lisani was suffering from a high fever and a dry cough.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani activists held a similar protest rally in Ardabil on December 2. They wrote large murals throughout the city demanding the release of political prisoners.
