Climbing to the peaks of Damavand, Alamkuh and Sabalan was banned

The Mountaineering Federation of Iran announced on Wednesday, that due to the prevalence of coronavirus, climbing to the peaks of Damavand, Alamkuh and Sabalan is prohibited during the upcoming holidays and until further notice.

In its announcement today, the Mountaineering Federation announced the closure of its mountain camps and shelters, stating that the entrance of these peaks is controlled by law enforcement forces and that climbers are prevented from entering these areas.

The official ban on climbing the peaks of Iran was announced a week after the news of the ascent of about 3,000 people to Damavand Peak was published.

This happened while the Mountaineering Federation had previously closed the shelters of Damavand Peak due to the red situation in Corona in Tehran province.
