The brother of national activist Bahman Khaliqi, who died in an accident on the Sayingala-Goshachay road on August 9, was detained by security forces.
No information has been provided as to why Aydin Khaliqi was detained.
According to some reports, Aydin Khaliqi was detained by order of Rahim Binabi, the head of the security department of the Binab province police department.
Also, relatives and family members of the Khaliqi, as well as national activists were not allowed to enter the Binab cemetery.
Bahman Khaliqi is the second national activist to die in a car accident in the last two weeks. On August 1, Ali Mahammadzadeh was killed in a traffic accident on the Ahar-Tabriz road, known as the “highway of death.”
Some activists have questioned Khaliqi’s death, citing growing pressure on Azerbaijani national rights activists in recent months, as well as the killing of several national activists by Iranian security forces in fake road accidents in recent years.
