East Azerbaijan is the fifth largest producer of agricultural products in the country

Director of Horticulture of East Azerbaijan Agricultural Organization said:

“This province is the fifth largest agricultural production in the country”.

In an interview with ISNA, Mohammad Baqer Biparva said:

“According to the statistics of 97, East Azerbaijan has 112,144 hectares of orchards, which is equivalent to 4.18% of the total area of orchards in the country and is the sixth province in this regard.”

He added: “The main garden products of the province are apple fruit with a fertile area of ​​32 thousand and 129 hectares, grape fruit with a fertile area of ​​17 thousand and 52 hectares, apricot fruit with a fertile area of ​​11 thousand and 118 hectares, almonds with a fertile area of ​​9261 hectares and Walnut fruit with a fertile area of ​​8904 hectares.

East Azerbaijan ranks first in the production of apricots and second in the production of apples, almonds, tomatoes and plums, berries, sumac, blueberries, cherries and elm and has a special position in the agricultural sector.

Also, the province is in the third place in the production of grapes and pears and the production of products such as walnuts, cherries, hazelnuts and Mohammadi flowers is in the fifth place in the country”.
