The public relations department of Marand reported on November 17 that a meeting was held in Marand to rename three villages.

According to the report, the meeting was held at the request of residents and village councils to change the names of Dugican, Uryantepe, and Payam villages.

After reviewing the available documents, the regional working group agreed to change the name of Payam village to Yam, Uryantepe village to Ayrandibi, and Dugijan village to Doyjan.

According to the municipality of Marand, the renaming of geographical units is allowed only under special conditions and in particular with the preservation of rapprochement, national unity, historical and cultural roots, and identity.

The decisions of the working group will be sent to the working group for the province in accordance with the rules of procedure, and then to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Cabinet of Ministers for final approval.
