The commander of the East Azerbaijan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Protection Unit announced the arrest of the perpetrators of the illegal demolition and excavation of the old cemetery in the village of Amrollah in Bostanabad.
While announcing this news, Col. Kazem Dadashi said: following the public reports about the destruction and unauthorized excavation in the old cemetery of Amrollah village of Bostanabad city, during a comprehensive operation, the protection unit of the city prevented the continuation of excavation.
He continued: “During this operation, which was carried out with the cooperation of the police, four illegal digging agents who were digging to discover historical property under the pretext of leveling private property near the cemetery were arrested and the tools used were confiscated.”
He said: the offenders along with the discovered items were referred to the judicial authorities as defendants and the legal steps will be carried out in accordance with the regulations.
