Semed Zakeri, master of calligraphy as well as Turkish language teacher, residing in Tabriz, capital of South Azerbaijan, was arrested while he was teaching in his office in Bostanabad. Police committed assault & battery and vicious insults while arresting him.
Police seized his books, expensive metal calligraphy fonts and his other personal objects. There is no news about where he is under custody now, but the police officers who arrested him were staff of Iran Intelligence (Ettela’at) bureau.
Iran’s regime suppresses Turkish language advocates. Turkish is mother tongue of at least 35 million people in Iran.
