As a result of the spread of the coronavirus, 673 people working in tourism facilities in Zanjan lost their jobs

The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Zanjan said:

“Since the spread of the coronavirus, 673 people working in the province’s tourism enterprises have lost their jobs.”

Amir Erjmand said:

“According to research, to date, 64 people have lost their jobs in hotels, 65 in reception centers, 62 in travel agencies, 54 in roadside businesses and complexes, 185 in tourist guides, and 243 in ecotourism homes due to coronavirus infection and restrictions.”.

According to him, it is also estimated that 250 billion rials have been lost to tourism enterprises in Zanjan so far due to the spread of the virus.

“The crisis caused by Corona’s disease has had a significant impact on the tourism industry in the province, and given that many artisans work in this field, the damage has caused them serious problems and livelihood problems,” he said.

He added: “Unfortunately, in recent days and with the onset of autumn, we are witnessing a resurgence of Jovid-19 disease in the province, so the closure of museums and historical sites has been extended for another week.”
