Social responsibility in the days of the coronavirus and the month of Muharram

COVID-19

The coronavirus crisis has had a profound effect on Iran, which has affected the whole world. Due to the close contact of the coronavirus, many parts of the world have stopped operating.

States have taken steps to prevent the spread of the disease. With their risky decisions, Iranian officials have quickly made the virus one of the most widespread countries in the world. These decisions were preceded by the ceremonies of the month of Muharram. Despite all the warnings, the month of Muharram was not postponed.

Authorities insisted on holding mourning ceremonies at all costs. As expected by health experts, the events of the month of Muharram were not carried out in accordance with the protocols. According to the images spread on social media, in many cities, the social distance was not taken into account, and hundreds of people gathered in small places.

However, in addition to conservative people, secular-minded people were just as careless. Taking advantage of the Muharram holiday, thousands of families went for a walk and created excessive traffic on the roads.
The controversy was even more intense between the conservatives who attended the Muharram ceremony and the secular dignitaries who went for a walk.

Social responsibility is the losing side of the case

Iranian society is full of many conflicts and paradoxes in many Middle Eastern countries. The fact that the nation has not given up circumcision, but has not fully embraced modernization, leads to a paradoxical controversy. This issue is exacerbated by religious issues.

Due to the ideological policies of the Islamic Republic, the society is in conflict with each other. Beliefs and personal freedoms are becoming an issue that people can easily interfere with. Day by day, dialogue between people is replaced by hatred and enmity. Ineffective quarrels also cause intellectuals to distance themselves from the country and the agenda.

In this case, instead of fulfilling their social responsibilities during the month of Muharram, people start blaming each other and behaving hostilely.

At the end of the day, the month of Muharram was over, but the health protocols were not taken into account by the believers or those who went for a walk. This war has no winners, and the nation and the country will suffer.
