Faghihi was a key member of Iranian Association for the Defense of Prisoners’ Rights and he worked as an attorney to defend political activists in Iran courts. One of his last jobs was to defend Abbas Lesani, a famous Azerbaijani Turk activist, in the court and now he has been arrested just in the same court that he did one of his last jobs to defend Abbas Lesani.
Attorneys are under pressure from Iran regime to avoid accepting political clients or cases related to political activists. It has been happened so many times before and some lawyers have been forced to leave Iran because of their defenses of political activist’s rights in the courts.
