7 villages were liberated
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement that 7 villages, including the surrounding villages of Fizuli, which had been under occupation for 30 years, had been liberated. Azerbaijani officials said they had recaptured many strategic hills and places from the Armenians and would continue the attack. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the nation live. Aliyev condemned Armenia’s repeated violations of the ceasefire and its attacks on the unarmed population. He also said that there were martyrs and wounded and stressed that their blood would not remain on the ground. Ilham Aliyev said that Armenia was moving away from the path of peace with these actions, adding that the Azerbaijani army was protecting its interests on its soil. Ilham Aliyev also received the latest information from the frontline in a live conversation with the Minister of Defense and congratulated the Azerbaijani nation and army:
“This is the first step to victory and the victory will continue.”
Turkey supported and Iran remained silent
From the first minutes of Armenia’s ceasefire violation, the Turkish media actively supported it. Images of the TRT team being attacked by Armenia on the front line were also widely broadcast in Turkey and Azerbaijan.
In addition, many statesmen from Turkey expressed their support for Azerbaijan. Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin condemned Armenia’s actions in the first minutes and said that Turkey stands by Azerbaijan. In a telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev, Recep Tayyip Erdogan also stated that he was with Azerbaijan in every sense.
The Turkish nation, from artists to athletes, said they were with Azerbaijan. Also, in a few minutes, Azerbaijan and its news became the agenda of social media.
However, while all this was happening, the Iranian side chose to remain silent. The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan did not say a single word. Iranian news sites saw Karabakh as Armenian territory and published news from Armenian sources. The Gom News website, which also operates in Gum with the participation of many clerics, has repeatedly claimed that Azerbaijan has attacked Karabakh, claiming that it is Armenian territory. Gom News also called those killed by Armenia martyrs and called the Azerbaijani army’s attack barbaric.
