Iranian propaganda targets Azerbaijan

Ruhollah Khomeini

The Islamic Republic of Iran is an indispensable and widely celebrated system of political propaganda. The founding leader of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini, with the change of the Shah’s regime in 1357, drew attention to the importance of propaganda. On this basis, no dissenting or even influential dissent was allowed to exist. According to Iran’s constitution, radio and television must remain strictly state-owned, and therefore no private or private channel can operate in the country. In addition, a separate censorship and control mechanism has been established in some media outlets, and all publications are strictly controlled by the government. That is why the radio and television station in Iran, which is affiliated with the independent Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, is seen as a regular place and the opposition is not allowed to work there.
There are some elements that the Islamic Republic of Iran has seen as an enemy since its inception. Every non-Persian and non-Shiite power is inevitably seen as an enemy and therefore taken into account by the authorities. Also, the return of Turks, who make up half of the country’s population, to their ethnic identities has become even more sensitive, especially after the establishment of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Iranian Turks forcibly separated When they saw Azerbaijan’s development, especially in terms of national and spiritual beings, they began to question the oppression they saw in Iran. Therefore, the sensitivity to the Turks increased even more. However, Tehran’s propaganda war was launched not only in Iran, but also in the Republic of Azerbaijan. These policies, which were carried out under the name of the water of the revolution (read as it is), took into account the political and social characteristics of the target nation. For example, special programs were held in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as in the regions of Turkey where the Azerbaijani population lives, where the Shiite sect is widespread. Preess TV and Sahar Channel are known as the television channels of these propaganda systems.
In particular, Iran’s Sahar channel was referring to those people only as a TV channel that broadcasts from Iran on the doorstep. While millions of Iranian Turks long for television in their native languages, Azerbaijani Turkish is used in these channels, which are run in a very professional way.
These channels focus on the politicization of the Shiite faith in line with Tehran’s goals. If the spread of a religious belief is a matter of words, that belief must be based not only on simple religious information but also on the policies of the Islamic Republic.
Cinematographers, especially those working for the Sahar TV channel, are working in the same way and trying to fulfill this goal of the government.

But for several days now, the International Branch of the Basij Forces has announced that it will launch a “Getting to Know the Republic of Azerbaijan” program.
This program will be under the control of the forces of Sipah, which will be able to join it by registering in advance. The program, which is said to be the Turkic language of the program, aims to teach the policies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
However, the views of those who teach in the program, especially Persian nationalism, are extremely noteworthy.
In addition to the programs on religious issues during the months of Muharram and Ramadan, such purely political programs are carried out with the aim of keeping the Islamic Republic under the control of the Azerbaijani nation.
The fact that Azerbaijani national activists are professionally kept away from the media has left this field completely empty for Iran. With growing security concerns, Tehran is trying to achieve its goals by expanding its anti-Turkish propaganda.
