Mitkhat Yenigun on how Turkish companies will help rebuild Karabakh

Karabakh

In the coming years, contracting firms from Turkey will play an active role not only in the restoration of Karabakh, but also in the development of the Azerbaijani economy. This was stated by the head of the Association of Contractors of Turkey (OPT) Mithat Yenigun.

“Turkish contractors are allocated an acceptable budget and quality work in high-risk areas,” Yenigun said.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Turkish contractors with 44 firms remain second after China in the list of “250 largest international contractors in the world,” according to the head of OPT.

Turkish contracting firms continue to develop both domestically and abroad.

“According to the Ministry of Commerce, from January to November 2020, Turkish contractors have undertaken 175 foreign projects worth $ 10.4 billion. In total, since 1972, Turkish contractors have completed various projects in 127 countries for a total of $ 413 billion, ”said Mithat Yenigun.

According to him, Turkish firms abroad were engaged in the construction of highways, tunnels, bridges, shopping centers, multi-storey buildings, electrical substations and other infrastructure facilities. From 1972 to 2020, Turkish firms have implemented projects worth $ 14.7 billion in Azerbaijan.

“In order to diversify our markets, we aim to get a significant share of projects, especially in the desert countries of Africa. Russia remains the market leader for us, which will continue to play a leading role in the future. In addition, the role of Turkish contractors in the restoration of Nagorno-Karabakh and support of the Azerbaijani economy is active, ”the head of the contractors association said.
