Tabriz Municipality Building

Tabriz Municipality Building is one of the most immanent symbols of this old and historic city. This magnificent building was built in the place of an abandoned cemetery after a devastating flood in Tabriz which had happened on 1934. The structure was operated by German engineers in collaboration with Armenian architect Avedis Ohanjanian as well as local architects such as Haj Mohammad and some of local professional stone cutters when Arfa-ol-Molk Calili was mayor of Tabriz. It is one of the most important, most beautiful and strongest governmental buildings in Iran, architecturally and authentically which has been designed as a flying eagle. There is a tower on the building which is approximately 30.5 meters high, with a four faced clock on top of it which alarms every quarter.

Tabriz Municipality Building was built during the period of 1935 to 1938, in an area of 9600 m² while the square footage of it is about 9500 m².
