A rocket attack on US forces is reported today after US fighter jets attacked Iranian-linked militant installations in Syria and Iraq.

After US fighter jets respond to Iranian-backed militant drone strikes against US personnel and facilities in Iraq. Earlier on Monday, the groups targeted operational and weapons storage facilities in two locations in Syria and Iraq, Syrian state media reported, firing several rockets at a U.S. military base in the Omar oil field in the Deir ez-Zor area.

 

The SANA news agency did not provide details of the attack, but other media outlets in the region said Iranian-backed militants may have carried out rocket attacks on US forces at the Omar oil field.

 

On Monday, US forces launched a missile strike in retaliation in Syria, but the attack did not result in any casualties, and the US military responded with rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

The White House has stressed that Monday morning airstrikes by US fighter jets are designed to limit and prevent future Iranian-backed militant operations against US personnel.

 

Regional media say the rocket attacks are in response to Sunday night’s US attack on allied Iranian Shiite forces.
