Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The statement came from the Presidential Administration of Iran.
During the telephone conversation, Rouhani touched upon the Astana summit:
“It is important to continue the Astana process in order for the three countries to achieve their goals, especially in humanitarian matters.”
Rouhani also stressed the importance of protecting the nuclear deal and opposing US efforts to extend the arms embargo on Iran.
Putin, in return, expressed support for the nuclear deal.
The Russian leader also stressed that they will continue to support Iran’s international position.
