Turkey will monitor the peace process in Karabakh

Karabakh

Finally, a month and a half later, a ceasefire agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the initiative of Russia. Thus, Armenia threatened to withdraw from the occupied territories. However, the proper functioning of this process will be under the control of the guarantor forces that control the peace. Initially, there were reports that Turkey was not here, and there were dark places in the agreement, but finally, according to the official statements of the Turkish authorities, Turkey will also take an active part in this part of the case.

Turkish officials in Baku

Immediately after the signing of the agreement, the Turkish Foreign and Defense Ministers, as well as the Chief of National Intelligence, left for Baku. As a result of the meetings attended by the President of Azerbaijan, Turkish officials also shared the details of the issue. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu openly stated that the Turkish army would take part in the peacekeeping operation together with the Russians. Turkey will visit the Ceasefire Control Centers to be set up in the places advised by Russia and Azerbaijan. According to Çavuşoğlu, the Turkish army will monitor the situation both by itself and through the UAV or Pahpads. The Russian delegation will also arrive in Ankara on Friday for more detailed talks. In any case, it is safe to say that Turkey and the Turkish military will also monitor the ceasefire. Also, the road project to Nakhchivan, which seems to be one of the most important articles of this agreement, will be under the control of Turkey, but it will take a few days to learn the details of this control.

The project of the Nakhchivan road, which is separated from the Azerbaijani lands and includes Armenia, will connect Azerbaijan to the north and, in a sense, to Baku. It is expected that the ancient railway will be launched with this project. Thus, it will be possible to go from Ankara to Baku. This is an extremely important development, especially for future energy projects. Although there is some uncertainty about what Khankendi will look like on the Azerbaijani side, according to some experts, the Khankendi-Armenia road can be seen as a guarantee of the Nakhchivan road. Because of the closure of Nakhchivan to Baku and even the connection to the Caspian Sea and the Turkic world is a very strategic issue.
On the other hand, Iran is undoubtedly the only country that has lost in all these developments. In particular, with the Nakhchivan Road project, Azerbaijan will no longer need Iran, and this will be extremely important in the future policies of both Azerbaijan and Turkey for South Azerbaijan.
