Greater Tehran Prison officials prevent Alireza Farshi from accessing the required insulin and drugs

Authorities in the Greater Tehran Prison are blocking access to insulin and needed drugs for Alireza Farshi, a political prisoner held in the prison.

Alireza Farshi Dizjikan, a Turkish political prisoner imprisoned in the Greater Tehran Prison, in contact with his relatives, reported that the prison authorities prevented him from accessing insulin and drugs prescribed by doctors.

Alireza Farshi was transferred to Loghman Hakim Hospital’s Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinic on Tuesday, July 29, following a worsening of his condition. Every day in this section to be treated in person.

Alireza Farshi contracted diabetes (hyperglycemia) after being imprisoned and the delay in accessing blood sugar testing and treatment in ward 2 of the large prison brigade caused tremors (shaking in the body), numbness of the right hand and shortness of breath, and The infection in his left eye was caused by the beating of security officers during his detention.

Now, in addition to barring Mr. Farshi from accessing insulin, officials at the Greater Tehran Prison are also blocking the Azerbaijani political prisoner from accessing the fruits and vegetables that doctors insisted on consuming.

Also, according to a report received by the Persian section of the Ivanati news group, most of the food and products sold in the buffet of the Greater Tehran Prison are outdated, which has further exacerbated Mr. Farshi’s illness.

Mr. Farshi informed about the list of 18 political-ideological prisoners of this ward, who were mainly detained after the protests in November 1998, that he himself is part of this list and that they are treated as inmates who are forbidden prisoners.
