Iran is trying to hinder the liberation of Karabakh through diplomatic efforts

Nagorno Karabakh

After the beginning of the Karabakh liberation movement, Iran moved late from other countries. For the first few days, Iran, as always, tried to supply arms and food to Armenia. The real face of the government became even clearer after Iran’s aid to Armenia from the Norduz border gate was seen by citizens and shared on social networks. This time, unlike usual, the Turkish press began to take an interest in Iranian and especially South Azerbaijani news. There were also two large protests. Especially after the protests of the South Azerbaijanis in spite of all the pressure, it was already clear that Iran was on the side of Armenia with all its might. However, when unexpected events took place, the Tehran government tried to reach out to Armenia diplomatically.

The Azerbaijani army surprised Tehran

Iran has always tried to remain silent when the ceasefire is violated in Karabakh. It is clear to everyone that the Tehran government is in the summer of Armenia with all its might. Therefore, when there was a shortage, Tehran secretly tried to stop the Azerbaijani army. Many times, pressure from Iran and Russia prevented the Azerbaijani army from advancing. However, this visit showed the results of the preparations of the Republic of Azerbaijan for many years, and the will it showed began to result in the liberation of Karabakh. Iran has not taken any serious action for days because it does not fully understand the seriousness of this issue. But then, when he saw the success of the Azerbaijani army and the withdrawal of Armenia, he suddenly began serious diplomatic efforts with the help of his weapons. Iran wanted exactly a ceasefire, as Yerevan said, without any serious commitments.

Tehran became the biggest loser in the Karabakh events

Iran has not had a private power diplomatically for years. Iran may have strengthened its diplomatic power in Syria, Iraq, or Lebanon through Iranian terrorist organizations, but it does not have such a power in the Caucasus. For this, it can only follow Russia. However, Tehran has been repeating Armenia’s undocumented claims since day one, claiming that there are jihadist terrorists in Karabakh. This is, in fact, a well-known tactic of Iran. Because Iran entered Syria with the same claims and a threat to its borders. Even now, the allegations made by all political parties, as well as the accumulation of Iranian troops on the borders of Azerbaijan, increase this possibility. Thus, as Armenia loses power, Iran is trying to find a place for itself in the Karabakh region.

It should also be borne in mind that no matter what, Iran sees Azerbaijan’s own gain as its own defeat. Therefore, he wants a long-term instability and terror in the Karabakh region, as he is unable to prevent the Azerbaijani army. Thus, they can gain power from both the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkey, and undermine the self-confidence gained by South Azerbaijan by obstructing the liberation of Karabakh. Although these are the thoughts of the Tehran government and Ali Khamenei, the fact that Iran is in a difficult economic and political situation and the Azerbaijani army is constantly advancing may have led to the failure of Tehran’s plans.
We must not forget that just as the Azerbaijani nation has not remained silent about the aid provided to Armenia in recent days, it will not remain silent about such work and interference, and this can put Tehran in new difficulties.
