Azerbaijani activists were sentenced to prison in Maku

Azerbaijani activists Yaver Sultani and Farid Mohammadnejad were sentenced by the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeal to four months in prison each and eight months probation.

The activists had previously been sentenced to one year in prison by a Maku District Court of First Instance, chaired by Judge Irfani Alamdari, on charges of “inciting a massacre with the aim of violating national security.”

Yaver Sultani and Farid Mohammadnejad, each sentenced by the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeals to four months in prison and sentenced to life in prison by the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeals on October 18. They were sentenced to 8 months probation.

Thus, Yaver Sultani and Farid Mohammadnejad were sent to prison by a final court decision to serve 4 months of their sentences, and the remaining 8 months of imprisonment were postponed for two years.

Earlier, Yaver Soltani remained in the Maku Central Prison for two days after being arrested by the Sipah Information Office and was released on bail pending an investigation by the Makun Revolutionary Court on the condition that he not operate in virtual media.
