Part of the Maiden Bridge, the oldest building in the city of Karaj, has collapsed

Fridun Mohammadi, Director General of the Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department of Alburz Province, said:

“Due to rains yesterday, part of the Maiden Bridge, the oldest building in Karaj, collapsed on Friday afternoon.” This bridge is also called Maiden’s Bridge or Paul Dokhtarna Hisar Bridge, Suleymaniye Bridge and Shah Abbas Bridge. This bridge was built during the Safavid period and was built on the remains of an older Seljuk bridge.

According to Fridun Mohammadi, director of the Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department of Alburz Province, the east side of the Karaj Maiden Bridge for pedestrians collapsed on Friday.
