An Azerbaijani media activist was arrested and taken to Maku prison

According to ANT, Farid Mahammadnejad, an Azerbaijani media activist and manager of the Yurd TV page, was arrested and sent to Maku City Prison to serve his sentence.

Farid Mohammadnejad, a media activist and head of the Yurd TV page, was arrested by the Maku City Court’s Executive Department today and sent to Maku Prison to serve his sentence.

On October 18, Farid Mohammadnejad and another Maku resident, Yaver Soltani, were sentenced by the West Azerbaijan Province Court of Appeals to 13 months ‘administrative detention and eight months’ probation without trial.

Earlier, Section 101 of the Maku Criminal Court sentenced the activists to one year in prison.

Another Azerbaijani media activist, Yaver Soltani, who is currently serving his sentence in Maku prison, is being held in solitary confinement and is not allowed to meet with relatives or make phone calls.
