Breeding 1700 single-humped camels in East Azerbaijan

The Deputy Minister of Livestock Production Improvement of the East Azerbaijan Agricultural Organization announced the breeding of 1700 single-humped camels in the province.

In an interview with ISNA, Habib Sharifian, referring to the province’s climate change, said: “As the drought continues in the province, the region’s agricultural landscape, especially in Lake Urmia, will gradually grow into car plants and poor vegetation.

He said that with the change of the province’s agricultural landscape, the animals that graze in the region should also be changed.He continued: “Camels feed on pruned fodder in pastures, which is considered an invasive and undesirable weed for animals, and the roots of plants are not separated from the soil.”

Regarding the breeding status of single-humped camels in the province, Sharifian said: “Currently, camels in the province are mainly located in Tabriz, Osko, Kleiber, Miyaneh and Harris counties, and the necessary support is provided by issuing licenses and allocating facilities to these units.”
