Iran is struggling to regain what it lost with its Karabakh diplomacy

Karabakh

Iran is known as the country most affected by the recent events in Karabakh. Armenia is forced to withdraw from the occupied territories, and the Republic of Azerbaijan has begun to gain its lands with the will it has shown. However, it is clear to everyone that Iran is extremely uneasy about this situation. Iran does not want a strong Azerbaijan in the region. Tehran knows very well and in fact, sees that the settlement of Karabakh has caused great excitement in South Azerbaijan and the Iranian Turks in general.

Tabriz has risen again and a serious self-confidence has returned to the nation. Therefore, all these days, Iran has always repeated the wishes of Armenia and talked about an unconditional ceasefire. However, no country takes Iran seriously in this matter and does not want to put it on the table. Therefore, Iran itself has launched a new diplomatic offensive. Recently, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Policy Abbas Araghchi first visited East Azerbaijan. After visiting the regions of Khudafar and looking at the borders, the Arab held a long meeting with the governor in Tabriz. At this meeting, Araqchi tried to learn from the governor about the alleged protests in South Azerbaijan and the potential for further protests. Abbas Aragchi, who left Tabriz for Baku, met for many hours yesterday, led by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In these meetings, Iran spoke about a new interpretation and proposal but did not specify how the Azerbaijani side views this proposal.

Understandably, and as they have said before, Iran has expressed concern about the protection of the rights of minorities in Karabakh. Under the pretext of this minority, the Armenian government has been occupying Karabakh, as well as 7 separate regions, for years. In this case, the Armenian side is accusing Azerbaijan of what it is doing with serious propaganda. For example, Armenia claims that Armenians in Karabakh are in danger if they come to power in Azerbaijan. In this case, the Republic of Azerbaijan has repeatedly said that in Karabakh, whoever is everywhere in Azerbaijan, there is a true democracy and minorities are safe. In fact, this issue should be the last country Armenia will talk about. Because when you look at the whole region, there are different nationalities in the countries, but only Armenia is an exception to this rule. Here, too, the question arises as to what Armenia has done to the Muslims and Turks living historically in Karabakh and even in the present-day territory of Armenia, all of whom have left? Why do tens of thousands of Armenians live in peace in Azerbaijan, but no Turk can live in Armenia? Or how did 1 million Turks and Muslims expel the local population during the occupation of Karabakh?

History has not forgotten what Armenia did in Khojaly. Therefore, in this case, the fact that Iran again came to the diplomatic table and sided with Armenia makes everything clear.
Just as today Armenia supplies all its weapons and military needs in general through Iran’s land and air borders, its diplomacy sees its closest friendship in Tehran.
Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly asked where Armenia brings these weapons. Where does bankrupt Armenia get the money for these weapons? Aliyev also said that he knew the list of those who provided free weapons to Armenia.
If Georgia has closed its air and land borders, then where else can Armenia get it, except for Iran, whose borders are still open?

Iran’s ambassador to Ankara, Mohammad Farazmand, said in a report yesterday that they had not given arms to Armenia but that the border was open for trade. But how does Iran keep its borders open with Armenia during the war?
This is despite the fact that the clergy in Iran has openly stated that there is no trade with the occupier, which is a sign of Iran’s hypocrisy.
