NATIONAL ACTIVIST SAHAND MAALI RETURNS TO PRISON

South Azerbaijani national cultural activist Sahand Maali, a resident of Sarab, returned to Sarab prison.

It should be noted that the spread of coronavirus in the prison led to the release of the activist. He returned to prison on the 2nd of Mehr at the end of his imprisonment.

Sahand Maali was arrested by disciplinary officers at his workplace on the 10th of Tir and transferred to Sarab prison on the same day.

Note that Maali was sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison on two similar charges of “propaganda against the system.” It should be noted that he was previously released on 98/10/25 in accordance with Article 134 of the Criminal Code. However, on 99/4/10, court officials re-arrested the activist and stated that his case was not final.
