Registration of three natural monuments of East Azerbaijan in the list of national monuments

Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of East Azerbaijan announced the registration of three natural monuments of the province in the list of national monuments.

While announcing this news, Ahmad Hamzehzadeh said: the inclusion of natural monuments in the list of national heritage has a great impact on introducing these monuments as part of the province’s tourist attractions.

He continued by stating that 32 natural monuments of the province have already been registered in the list of national monuments: following the registration of three other natural monuments, including the old sycamore trees of Boyidoz Khodaafarin village, the old elm tree of Shabestar pottery and the seven waterfalls of Darandash village Marand, the number of registered natural monuments in the province increased to 35.

Referring to the importance of preserving and protecting natural monuments, especially old trees, he said: “In recent years, the province’s cultural heritage has tried to register the old trees of Azerbaijan in the list of national monuments that are a symbol of resistance and vitality in order to preserve and protect them.” In order to achieve this goal, 23 old trees of Azerbaijan have been nationally registered so far.

Hamzehzadeh, Public Relations Officer of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of East Azerbaijan, said: “Also, in the collection of national natural monuments of East Azerbaijan, the title of three national monuments to the beautiful and ever-roaring waterfalls of the province, The last Gol waterfall is Varzeqan and the seven waterfalls are Darandash Marand.
