An Azerbaijani writer and translator has been arrested in Iran

Mehdi Salimi, a writer, researcher and translator of philosophical works in Iran, was arrested by security officials at his father’s house in Ahar and taken to the Evin prison in Tehran.

Mehdi Salimi’s brother Jalal Salimi shared information on his Instagram page yesterday:

“My brother Mehdi Salimi was arrested today at around 9:30 a.m. at his father’s house in Ahar and taken to Tehran’s Evin prison after being interrogated. The charges against him are still unknown.”

The report also said that a number of personal things belonging to Mehdi Salim, including a mobile phone, laptop and handwriting, were confiscated by security officials at the time of his arrest.
