SALAR TAHIR AFSHAR CALLED TO URMU COURT

The time of the review of Salar Tahir Afshar’s charges and the name of the court department have been announced. Thus, an electronic lawsuit was filed against Salar Tahir Afshara, a resident of Urmu and an Azerbaijani activist. He was summoned to the Second Department of the Revolutionary Court of Urmu Province. According to the court, the date of consideration of the charges was set for April 24, 99.

The activist was charged with “propagating Islam against the order” and “organizing illegal gatherings.”
Salar Tahir Afshar was summoned to the Information and Public Security Department of Urmu on January 26 and arrested and taken to the city prison.

The national activist took part in a rally to protest the Armenian attack on the Azerbaijani city of Tovuz. During the protests, a large number of activists were arrested and sentenced to prison.

Salar Tahir Afshar was released on bail on March 31 pending trial on a 50-million-toman bail.

He has been arrested several times before by Iranian security forces. The activist is currently serving a three-year suspended sentence instead of the eight-month prison sentence imposed on him for participating in the April 1986 protests.
