A group of workers of Tabriz Compressor Manufacturing Factory located in Gharamalek Industrial Town of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan Province want to form a trade union to follow up on their demands.

According to the ILNA correspondent, some workers in the “Tabriz Compressor Manufacturing” factory announced that the last term of the Islamic Council of the “Tabriz Compressor Manufacturing” factory ended almost four years ago, but new period of activity has not been organized since that year.

They believe that the formation of this union is necessary in the unknown circumstances of the factory and its workers, who currently have 2 months of wage arrears.

The workers said: the number of workers is estimated at 138 and in the meantime we believe that due to legal loopholes we can not enjoy all our union rights.

Regarding the reason for not forming the Islamic Labor Council in this production unit, one of the workers told ILNA: “In the interval of about 4 years since the last Islamic Council of Labor ceased to exist, we tried several times to establish a union, but in each period some problems Prevented from doing so.

According to this worker, what is currently preventing the holding of elections and the formation of the Islamic Labor Council in the Tabriz compressor factory; Employer dissatisfaction and procrastination of Tabriz city labor office.

He said: “After the union meeting on Tuesday (September 9), a large number of factory workers sent a request to the Tabriz Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Office to form a trade union and are waiting for a response.”

“Strengthening job security and preventing the dismissal of workers’ tastes, eliminating the taking of promissory notes and concluding a white contract signed by some employers depend on the establishment of independent labor organizations in order to be able to resist these obvious oppressions,” he said.
