35 percent of Qazvin’s rural roads need to be improved

Javad Hag Lutfi

Javad Hag Lutfi, head of the Qazvin Road and Road Transport Department, spoke about the roads in the region:

“35 percent of the paved rural roads in Qazvin need to be improved. 700 km of these roads are highways, and the rest is for land and field vehicles. A total of 900 billion tomans of state accreditation is needed to improve rural roads in the region. Last year’s floods damaged 27 billion tomans of rural roads and technical facilities. However, despite this issue, Qazvin is not included in the list of 10 districts where funds will be allocated for the elimination of injuries.

Javad Haq Lutfi also said that 70 percent of the bridges and buildings in the region were damaged by floods last year and this year, and it is clear that there will be more serious injuries if the floods occur again.

Haq Lutfi said about the cargo and passenger navigation of the region:

“About 10,000 trucks with an average service life of 21 years operate in Qazvin, and 12,000 drivers work to transport goods from the district center to the regions. There are also 3,000 vehicles in the passenger carriage. With the spread of the coronavirus, passenger traffic on highways has decreased by 35 percent, causing economic damage to drivers. Despite the small amount of loans provided to eliminate this damage, the guarantee conditions for the return of the loan were difficult.

Javad Haq Lutfi, head of the Qazvin Ustan Roads and Roads Department, also said that “54,000 tons of asphalt was poured to improve and patch the roads.”
