As a result of Tehran’s policy, the society in East Azerbaijan is getting older
Statistics show that the population of East Azerbaijan is getting older. Speaking about this, the director general of the East Azerbaijan Notary Ahad Cody said that measures should be taken in connection with the situation.
According to him, the population growth in East Azerbaijan last year was 1 percent, but now this figure has dropped to 0.85 percent.
Fargol Sahaf, Director General of the East Azerbaijan Office for Assistance to the Poor, spoke about the issue:
“The increase in the number of elderly people is our biggest problem. At present, there are 400,000 elderly people in East Azerbaijan, 12,000 of whom are disabled.”
The governor of East Azerbaijan, Mohammad Reza Pur Mohammad, said:
“The growth of society in the region is lower than in the country. If we take into account the migration of young people from this area, we will face the aging of society in the future.”
It should be noted that the aging of society in Azerbaijan is a reality.
