Bookstores in West Azerbaijan suffer from the endless consequences of Coronavirus

The number of customers of libraries and bookstores has decreased since Isfand last year. This disease has reduced the number of customers going to bookstores and leaving empty seats in bookstores. Pupils, students, researchers and researchers spent their time in libraries last year. But this year it was not possible due to the coronavirus.

Owners of bookstores in western Azerbaijan say that the number of customers has decreased due to the coronavirus, and they say that they do not receive state support for the coronavirus, and their efforts in this direction are in vain. As one of the well-known Urmu bookstores in Western Azerbaijan, the owner of the Salimi Bookstore says about these difficulties:

“With the closure of madrassas, there has now been a 50 per cent drop in book sales, especially textbooks and general book sales.”

Mehdi Haqqani, head of the Urmu Bookstore, another well-known bookstore in the city, said:

“Large-scale closures due to Covid-19 have had a negative impact on the book industry and stagnated our operations. According to Korona, the failure of students to apply and the closure of educational centers caused great damage to booksellers. Since not everyone has access to the Internet, bookstores had to be placed in the first place on the corona. ”

International book fairs have also been suspended due to the corona. Book sales have fallen sharply this year. It should be noted that there are 71 public libraries and 24 public libraries in Western Azerbaijan, as well as 61,000 people are members in the libraries of the province, there are 18 bookstores in the province.
