Many citizens were detained during the marches in support of Karabakh

National Movement in southern Azerbaijan

For the second time, activists of the National Movement in southern Azerbaijan called for support for Karabakh and Iran’s regular supply of supplies to Armenia.

In this regard, on the 27th of Mehr, peaceful marches took place in the major cities of South Azerbaijan. However, government security forces did not tolerate this and arrested many national activists. According to the information, Rasul Razavi, Siyamak Kushi, Sara Turi, Hussein Amirhijri, Riza Zareii, Akbar Muhajiri, Hussein Muhammadian were arrested in Tabriz.

In Tabriz, security forces also reportedly attacked the homes of Mohammad Mahmudi and Shahin Barzgar. According to the participants of the marches in Tabriz, dozens of unidentified citizens were detained during the protest. At the same time, the names of Iffat Nikbakht, Aydin Zakiri and Riza Seyid Nuri were announced in Tehran, Mugan and Meshkinshahr. According to the information we received, Ibrahim Ganji, the Sorom director of Yagish magazine in Rasht, was detained by security forces at night.

It should be noted that despite the peaceful march, security forces tried to change the nature of the protest by breaking the windows of bus stops. It should be noted that the protesters put forward the closure of the Norduz customs as their main desire.
