According to ISNA XA, two young people drowned in the Caspian Sea in the border district of the port of Astara.
Tovhid Karamzadeh, the head of Lavandevil settlement, told journalists on the 17th of Murdad:
“Three 15- and 16-year-olds from the Lavandevil settlement drowned in the deep sea while swimming in the dangerous part of the Caspian Sea as the Garasu region. The third young man was able to get out of the water and was taken to the hospital.
Karamzade continued:
“One of the bodies was removed from the water at the first moment of drowning, and the search for the second body continues. The place where they drowned is a dangerous place at sea, and a “No Swimming” sign has been installed at the entrance. We urge city residents and tourists to refrain from swimming in dangerous places and to choose safe and permitted areas of the sea for entertainment.
Astara is a gateway to Europe from the borders of Northern Azerbaijan in terms of regional and international integration. On the other hand, this county connects other Iranian masters to Europe through the border of the North Azerbaijan Republic. Astara is a major source of economic income for Gilan Ustan and the country.
The district receives 6,800,000 visitors a year and is the largest lucrative border between the two Republics of Azerbaijan and Iran in terms of hand-to-hand trade, and the country’s third-largest border customs for exports. The majority of the residents of Astara County are Geny Azerbaijani Turks and speak Azerbaijani Turkish. Most of the geographical names of the county, Garasu region, which we have mentioned in this report, are in Turkish.
It is clear how large the annual economic income in this county is, and that is why the Iranian government separated it from the Ardabil province of South Azerbaijan and annexed it to the Gilan province in order to weaken the geographical and economic assimilation policy of the South Azerbaijani regions. Thus, the master of Ardabil and, as a result, the geography of South Azerbaijan were deprived of large economic incomes and economic development.
