Azerbaijani national-cultural activist Riza Vasigi was arrested and taken to Ardabil Prison to serve his sentence. Thus, he was arrested on the 14th of Aban 1399, applying to the Department of Execution of Sentences, and was handed over to the Ardabil Prison for execution of the sentence against him.
It should be noted that Riza Vasigi and his brother Ali Vasigi were previously arrested by the 1st Department of the Revolutionary Court of Ardabil under the jurisdiction of Gazi Mahdavi Rad. They were sentenced to two and three years in prison, respectively, on charges of “conspiracy to commit a crime against the national security of the country through the publication of an admonition” and “propaganda activities against the order.”
Vasigi’s brothers were physically abused by officials at their workplaces in Ardabil on the 21st of Khurdad and were arrested without a court order.
On the 27th of Khurdad, the activists were released on bail of 110 million tomans each until the end of the trial.
