355 tons of pistachios were produced in East Azerbaijan

Fereydoun Babaei, the governor of Khalkhal city, said during his visit to the pistachio orchards of Khorshorstam district: “Chatlanqush” with its cultivated type has been created in 14% of pistachio orchards in this area in the growing areas of this tree in Khorshorostam Khalkhal section.

He added: “Considering the average harvest of 2 tons of pistachios from each hectare of pistachio orchards and considering the fertility of 6 hectares of pistachio orchards in Rostam stew, it is predicted that more than 12 tons of high quality pistachios will be harvested and sent to the market this year.”

The director of Khalkhal Agricultural Jihad, stating that pistachio harvest from the subtropical areas of Khorshorstam section of the city will begin in the second half of October, added: Last year, 10 tons of high quality pistachios were harvested and sent to the market.

Behbood Alizadeh pointed to the increase in the desire of gardeners in Khorshorstam Khalkhal region to increase the area under cultivation of this product and said: Khalkhal pistachio cultivars are Akbari and Ahmad Aghaei and due to the quality of the product produced in the region is always welcomed by buyers.

Khalkhal city in the south of Ardabil province is one of the areas with various climatic conditions for cold and subtropical garden products such as pistachios.
