East Azerbaijan produced 557,000 tons of milk last year and 558,900 tons this year. According to the world rate, milk consumption in Iran is less than 50 percent.
The statement came from Akbar Fathi, head of the East Azerbaijan Agriculture Department, on the occasion of World Milk Day.
Fallahi said the cost of milk in production units, including industrial, semi-industrial and rural areas, ranged from 2,400 to 3,000 tomans.
Annual milk consumption per capita is 165 KG by world standards. This figure is 60-70 Kg in the country, ie half of it. This figure ranges from 300 to 350 kg in European countries.
He also announced that this year’s World Milk Day slogan is “drink healthy milk, fight the coronavirus.”
