198 environmental offenders were arrested in East Azerbaijan

The commander of the East Azerbaijan Environmental Protection Unit said: in the first six months of this year, 198 environmental violators were arrested in this province.

In an interview with IRNA on Wednesday, Hossein Fayegh added: “During this period, 142 cases related to environmental crimes have been filed in the judiciary, of which 23 have been closed, 118 are ongoing and one has been acquitted.”

He continued: in the first 6 months of this year, 24 cases of illegal fishing were reported from the river, of which 76 pieces were river fish, 178 pieces were white fish, 4 pieces were yellow fish and 30 pieces were perch.

Referring to 5 cases of illegal bird hunting in East Azerbaijan, Fayeq said: “Of these, 13 were partridges and 4 were pigeons.”

He added: out of a total of 7 cases of illegal hunting of mammals, one wild boar, 12 red deer, deer and 3 boars have been reported.

The commander of the East Azerbaijan Environmental Protection Unit added: “In these 47 cases, six cases of bird survival have been reported, of which 10 pieces of golden eagle, 19 pieces of Sargape, Gharghi, 2 pieces of herons, 2 pieces of Dalijah, 2 pieces of Butimar, Lak Lak,” There were 6 owls, 8 partridges, 13 golden owls and a wetland eagle.

Referring to the report of 9 cases of mammal survival, he said: 4 foxes, 3 wolves, lambs and a wild cat were discovered.

Fayeq stated: During this period, 6 illegal hunting weapons, eight legal hunting weapons, 14 hunting tools and equipment have been seized.

Regarding environmental pollution, he added: “In this regard, 50 cases of violations have been filed and 245 environmental warnings have been issued.”

The commander of the East Azerbaijan Environmental Protection Unit continued: “54 cases have been filed in the field of agricultural land destruction, land grabbing and pasture destruction.”

He stated that the amount of losses and damages caused by these violations is more than one billion and 220 million Rials and the amount of losses and losses received is more than 460 million Rials.

Fayeq added: During this period, 17 fires occurred, as a result of which 28 hectares and 600 square meters of lands in Kamtal and Kiamki regions, 50 hectares of Misho Daghi, 54 hectares of Arasbaran-Kalibar, 9.5 hectares of paper mills, 49 hectares of Sahand Esco And 22 hectares and 500 square meters of Arasbaran – Khodaafarin burned in the fire.
